Invitation

Welsh Badminton has been developing a programme for people with learning and / or physical disabilities for some time now. The programme offers coaching for players who wish to develop their skills and understanding of the game, and tournament opportunities for players who wish to play in competitions. There are currently a number of opportunities to play in competitions not only in Wales but also in Scotland, Ireland and England as well as Europe.

As part of the ongoing development, Welsh Badminton has recently appointed Norman Greenhouse as development officer to work specifically in the field of disability badminton. In addition to expanding the number of clubs offering badminton opportunities for disabled players, we are also looking for people who would like to help with the programme. One other exciting initative is that we now have this page on the Welsh Badminton website which will allow us to update everyone on development projects, club news, tournament reports and any other topic that will be of interest not only to those involved in disability badminton but also to the wider badminton public.

If you are interested in helping to expand and develop the programme either as club leader, coach or administrator could you please contact Norman Greenhouse, even if you have assisted on the programme previously. It is our intention to call a meeting of all those who register an interest in working on the programme to discuss the way forward.  As we need to develop a structured approach to our programme we will only be contacting people who respond to this letter so please ensure you register your interest with us.
