Development
Welsh Badminton currently employs a National Development Manager and 8 contracted hours Club Development Coaches.
Working with the County Associations the focus of the Development Plan is to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to take part in the game of Badminton. Whether through joining a new club, competing at an event for the first time, watching an event, becoming a coach, official or simply wanting to help as a volunteer, Welsh Badminton, the clubs and counties want to make this as easy and as accessible as possible.
Through the club network there are numerous opportunities for people to get involved and the Club Development Coaches are trying to improve the quality and number of clubs on an ongoing basis and will support any club wishing to develop.
Welsh Badminton has introduced a Club Accreditation programme to encourage clubs to develop. We will work with any club wishing to develop and raise their standards of delivery.
The Development of disability clubs across Wales is a target that is key to the expansion of the game in Wales. The Disability Working Group has established a Development Plan that will hopefully see an increase in coaches and players taking up the sport. We are keen to identify and support coaches and players who are interested in becoming involved with the sport.
